A Long Way From The Bathroom

Beneath our too rationalised and civilized Western world lie mosty of the things I am interested in - things such as archaeology, crop-marks, iron age hillforts, long barrows and lost or buried watercourses, cisterns and rivers.

A Long Way From The Bathroom is a new series on this theme. the title is taken from the first page of one of the paperbacks I used in making the second work in the series. It seems to say something about our convenience culture and the way we over-rationalise the environment. Many of the pieces I make allude to things which have been lost, destroyed of forgotten or which only exist in our subconscious.

The new series starts with Barbara Cartland and continuing the layering process, goes through several stages to arrive at a semi-translucent material in an attempt to take these ideas further.
